Hello   Well it's Fall Fair time in Port Alberni, BC, Canada (where I live) and I have been volunteering there for the past 5 days, with
3 more to go. It has been an amazing journey and I have met so many people who give from the heart just to make the fair a reality. They are volunteers and don't get paid for it (they do get fed lunch and dinner each day they volunteer tho, and the food is amazing), they do it because they love it. I was a bit apprehensive when my first full day arrived on
Thursday (11 am to 10:30 pm) whether I was going to be able to handle it for that long. But, let me tell you, it was amazing! I got to talk to so many wonderful people in the Home Show building. Hubby Ted asked me what my job is, and I told him "I am the keeper of all information" Â lol. I answer questions, help figure out solutions for issues, and even sweep up spilled "beans" on the floor (from a heat/cold bag). Some of my
Friends have also been through the building and it was great chatting and catching up. Apparently volunteering for this job entails talking to people so I don't feel guilty at all! I have known some of the vendors for years now as I used to do craft fairs and they were all there. But the new people! Wow. Yes, some have their "issues" and are quite demanding. But I found if you look them in the eyes, acknowledge what they are
telling you, and try to find solutions (which is usually passing the issue on to someone who is in that department), they are not too grumpy afterwards. There is also the usual "fair" stuff such as quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, children's crafts, lego, cards (yes a couple of mine are entered into this one), baking, preserves, garden produce and wines etc. So as I sit here doing this email, I am looking at the clock as my shift starts in a couple of hours. This is been an amazing experience and I will be volunteering again next year.  Meanwhile, I hope you have an amazing weekend. Â
Now, here's all the news in my Stamping World for you. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and I hope to see you during one of my live stamping demonstrations soon! Â
